This elegant, low-profile basket is handcrafted by Isaac Carney of the Lenape Indian Tribe of Delaware. It features a wide, shallow form with a gently undulating, wave-like rim and an open lattice design that creates natural diamond-shaped openings around the body.
The basket is coiled from longleaf pine needles in a warm light-to-medium brown tone. Natural brown-green chrysocolla beads are carefully placed at key intersections throughout the weave, adding subtle earthy color contrast and visual rhythm. The openwork construction gives the piece an airy, sculptural quality while remaining functional as a bowl or centerpiece. Handmade pine needle basket with chrysocolla beads, and wooden base with a hummingbird and hibiscus flower cut out. Basket size is 1 1/4” h x 10 1/4” w x 3 3/4” d. The basket is finished with beeswax.
